The Shores on Broadway is committed to offering a positive environment to ensure the integrity of our community and the peace of mind of our tenants. The Shores applicant review process requires that:
- All non-elderly and non-disabled adults must have a job, be in school or a training program, or be the primary caregiver to children or a special needs family member.
- All adults undergo a stringent criminal background check, focusing particularly on any history of drug-related, theft or violent crimes.
- All adults must complete a drug test.
- The head of household's credit history and ability to pay rent on time will be thoroughly assessed.
- All applicants will undergo a home visit at their current place of residence.
The Shores on Broadway is part of a larger revitalization program for all of Indiana Harbor that includes a better quality of life for community residents. At the Shores and all other new housing development in the Main & Broadway District, we want to ensure a high-quality living environment, yet also provide opportunity for households of varying incomes. All households are required to pay rent, but there is a sliding scale. Also, to preserve affordability for East Chicago residents there are income limits on the townhomes.
Household Income Limts Based on Household Size
- 1 person: $27,120
- 2 people: $31,020
- 3 people: $34,760
- 4 people: $38,760
- 5 people: $41,880
- 6 people: $44,940
- 7 people: $48,060
- 8 people: $51,180
If your household exceeds these limits there are upcoming attractive homeownership opportunities that may be the perfect match for you and your family. If you are interested in homeownership please contact Rosa Y. Ortiz at 312.602.6500 ext. 528.
